What makes an Ace Base? What to blend with our Superfood Smoothies!!

superfood smoothies ace base

We are often asked what liquid base to use with our superfood smoothies and which base tastes the best. It all comes down to personal taste and preference really. All of our superfood smoothies have been trialled and tested using all different types of waters and milk bases and they all blend up delicious each time. Whilst we do put a small recommendation on the back of each packet as to what we feel blends nicer with that Smoothie, feel free to mix it up and to make your own choice!

It’s always a challenge to make the decision of what you want to use to blend your smoothie and with so many different nut milks, coconut waters and other liquids on the market it’s hard to know what to use to get that perfect smoothie you’re craving for!

Want to know a bit more about some liquid bases, well let’s help you out with some of the following suggestions of what we like to use. At Morning Mojo we’re all about the blends and the base as it creates the perfect superfood smoothies for you and adds a nutritional boost, a sweeter flavour and a creamy and velvety texture!

Let’s chat about our favourite base-ics!!

ALMOND MILK

A dairy alternative that is an excellent source of calcium, vitamins A, D and E. Vitamins A and E enhance immunity and protect the body’s cells from damage, Vitamin D aids in building strong bones. Almond milk is a great way to boost your nutritional value of your smoothies as well as getting a creamy texture without all the additional fats. It contains the same heart-healthy fats as Olive oil and is low in calories and saturated fats.

COCONUT MILK

Similar to Almond Milk Coconut Milk is another Dairy alternative and is perfect in creating a superrich and decadent smoothie. It comes from the white flesh of mature brown coconuts.

Coconut milk is a high calorie food with majority of its calories coming from fats, including the saturated fats MCT’s (Medium Chain Triglycerides). MCTs go from the digestive tract direct to the liver, where they are used for energy or ketone production. It is a great source of Vitamins and Minerals and research also suggests that it may help reduce your appetite, increase metabolism and lose belly fat. If you can’t make your own or buy it freshly made then choose cans of Coconut Milk that contain ONLY coconuts and water, choose BPA free cans or else choose cartons.

It is also said to assist in the slowing down of ageing, regulating blood pressure, blood sugars and cholesterol, a cure-all for a range of digestive and urinary tract issues and has been touted to be as good as a blood transfusion as it has similar chemical profile to plasma.
